Membership policies
& responsibilities.

Accessible on this website, transcribed from Hammond Golf’s published 2024 policy PDF.

The original document’s stated goal is to provide members and guests with a great golf experience in a friendly environment. The sections below reflect its 2024 text; fees, booking rules and other terms may have changed.

Membership rights

  • Ten days’ advance booking by phone or through the online booking system. Booking for the tenth day begins at 4 p.m. EST.
  • Monthly updates about tournament bookings throughout the year.
  • Exclusive deals and promotions through Broken Stick Brewery, Hammond Hill and other partners.

General membership policies

  • The source document states that 2024 memberships expired December 31, 2024.
  • Members must provide a valid credit card in Chrono Golf; the document says the card is encrypted for member and club security.
  • Staff may ask members to provide identification to verify membership.
  • Members must check in at the Pro Shop before going to the first tee to obtain a starter ticket. The document says to arrive at least 15 minutes before the tee time. It describes virtual check-in in the Chrono Golf mobile app as an exception.
  • Members are responsible for guests they have booked in advance.
  • The club describes Hammond Golf, Broken Stick and Hammond Hill as a safe place for everyone. The source states that homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia and bullying are not tolerated, and asks visitors to alert staff if anyone feels uncomfortable or unsafe.

General course etiquette

  • Replace divots or fill them with the provided sand mix.
  • Keep pace during your round.
  • Be quiet while golfers prepare to hit.
  • Rake bunkers after use.
  • Play ready golf while being aware of other golfers’ positions.
  • Follow course signage and directions from starters and play coordinators.
  • Keep carts off greens and areas roped off by maintenance staff.
  • Return carts promptly to the cart-cleaning area after the round. The 2024 document says not to leave carts in the parking area for more than ten minutes.
  • If a new group is ahead at the 10th tee, inform a marshal so they can check the tee sheet.

Cancelling tee times

  • The 2024 policy sets 7:30 a.m. on the day of play as the deadline to cancel or change a tee time; it states that a no-show fee equal to a regular green fee would otherwise apply.
  • It recommends cancelling through Chrono Golf. If online booking is unavailable, it lists proshop@hammondgolf.com. The document says the Pro Shop was open 7 a.m.–6 p.m. for cancellations and that voicemail messages were not checked.
  • Members are responsible for checking the weather for the following day; the source says poor weather alone was not an acceptable reason for cancellation.
  • Members are responsible for guest green fees in the event of a guest no-show.
  • The source states that members who no-show without checking in with the Pro Shop or virtually through the Chrono Golf app would be charged a green fee.

Dress code

The 2024 document describes the club atmosphere as progressive and asks members and guests to wear tasteful, respectful attire in public areas.

  • Men’s golf attire: shirts designed for golf with collars; golf bottoms (no denim); golf shoes or athletic shoes without spikes.
  • Women’s golf attire: golf tops with or without collars or sleeves; golf bottoms (leggings accepted, no denim); golf shoes or athletic shoes without spikes. Golf dresses of appropriate length are accepted.
  • Clubhouse attire includes the golf attire above; denim and other casual clothing in good repair and tastefully tailored are accepted.
  • Members are asked to share the dress code with their guests. Contact the club if unsure about an item of clothing.

Golf carts & equipment

  • The 2024 document says push carts were available to members and guests at no charge.
  • It states that a per-rider power-cart rental fee applied unless the cart was included with a membership.
  • Drivers/renters are required by the source document to operate carts safely, follow club rules and accept responsibility for damage. It says minors and people without a valid driver’s licence must not operate a cart.
  • The document says to return the cart to its designated area within ten minutes of finishing, not leave it in the parking lot, and keep control of the key if the cart is unattended.
  • Personal golf vehicles such as golf bikes, golf boards and Segways are prohibited by the source policy.
  • Power caddies and equipment not designed to transport a golfer are welcome. The document allows people with disabilities to use assistive devices as needed to access goods or services.

The original PDF also contains legal release and liability wording for golf-cart rentals. This web transcription is not a replacement for the signed agreement or current terms; request the current document from the club.

Rain checks

  • Rain does not automatically result in a rain check; the starter and Pro Shop staff decide whether the course is playable.
  • The 2024 policy says rain checks may be issued for downpours lasting more than 15 minutes, an air-quality advisory or another catastrophic weather event.
  • For 18 holes, it says a rain check at the 18-hole value is issued if fewer than 12 holes are completed. No rain check is issued after teeing off on the 13th hole.
  • For 9 holes, it says a rain check at the 9-hole value is issued if fewer than 6 holes are completed. No rain check is issued after teeing off on the 7th hole.
  • The source says the same policy applied to golf carts.

Alcohol & cannabis

  • The 2024 policy prohibits alcoholic beverages on the premises unless provided by the club and says provincial liquor rules apply.
  • It states that staff may examine golf bags and other items for personal alcohol.
  • It prohibits alcohol or cannabis consumption to the point of impairment or intoxication. The source says members who breach the rules may be asked to leave and have membership privileges suspended; guests may be required to leave and may be denied future access.
  • The document says cannabis must be consumed respectfully and responsibly.
  • It says the club may arrange a taxi or Uber, at the member’s or guest’s cost, when staff believe someone is too impaired to drive.

The source PDF also contains alcohol-related liability wording. This archive does not replace current club terms or legal agreements.
